The Pro- Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, Abia State University Uturu (ABSU), Chief Mba Okoronkwo Ukariwo accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M.Ogbulu, on Saturday 9th July 2022, led the entire Management and other Council members of the University, to the burial ceremony of Elder Mrs Felicia Edeomola Wabara, late wife of the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and immediate past Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the University, His Excellency Senator Adolphus Wabara, PhD, at Ohambele, Ukwa East LGA.

In his speech at the event, the Abia State Governor and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD, while condoling the former Governing Council Chairman, added that death is certain for all mortals though the time and who may be next is not known, and assured the bereaved family that Abia state Government will always stand by them. The Governor also prayed that the death of Elder Mrs Felicia Wabara will further bring greater unity to the family, Ndoki Community, Ukwa East LGA and Abia State at large.

Earlier in their condolence messages, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Senate, Staff and Students of Abians State University,the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, Chief Mba Okoronkwo Ukariwo and the Vice –Chancellor Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, described the late wife of the former Council Chairman, as a virtuous woman, devout Christian, a great philanthropist who devoted her life to the service of God and humanity and prayed God to grant His Excellency Senator Adolphus Wabara the grace and fortitude to bear the loss.

Preaching at the ceremony, the Archbishop, (Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria), the Most Rev’d Dr Henry C. Ndukuba explained that death is not the end of the believer, rather a transition to a new life with God and prayed for the power of resurrection upon whatsoever may seem dead in the lives of members of the bereaved family and those who attended the ceremony.

Responding, His Excellency, Senator Adolphus Wabara PhD appreciated the support of the Abia State Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD, family, friends, the University management, colleagues, the church and others, stating that his late wife was a true pillar of support to him and he will greatly missed her.

Many dignitaries including some members of the National assembly, representatives of Governors of neighboring States, former Vice-chancellor and PDP Gubernatorial candidate in the State, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, top Government officials, the Academia, notable traditional Rulers, the Clergy, and others attended the ceremony.
