ABSU INDUCTS NEW BATCH OF MEDICAL DOCTORS

Speaking during the Induction ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Academic, Professor G. I. N. Emezue while appreciating the Governor Abia State and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D for his unalloyed support to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences thanked God that despite the initial challenges which delayed the induction of these new Doctors, there is every reason to celebrate that it finally came to pass.
He stated that the graduates of Abia State University have continued to make the University proud wherever they go and expressed optimism that the new Doctors will also excel and be good ambassadors of the Institution.
The Vice-Chancellor affirmed that ABSU is still one of the best  in the Country with the best academics that can stand their ground anywhere in the world, making steady and committed sacrifice to give quality education to their students, and advised that people should disregard the antics of those trying to de-market the University for their selfish interest.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the present economic realities has made it necessary for an upward review of school fees for some professional courses and therefore urged parents/Guardians to prepare themselves for this slight fees adjustment.
Also in his address, the Provost of the College of medicine and Health Sciences, Professor S. N. Onwere who also represented the Registrar Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) Dr. TAB Sanusi stressed the need for the new doctors to exhibit a high degree of professionalism in their practice adding that Council will not hesitate to withdraw the license of any Doctor caught in any unethical practice.
The Provost also thanked the Governor Abia State and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D, the Vice-Chancellor Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, the CMD ABSUTH Dr S.A.U Offiah, the Lecturers and Staff of the College for making the event possible and urged the new Doctors to go and exhibit the spirit of Excellence and Service which the University is noted for.
In a vote of thanks, the Dean Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Professor B. O. Ekpo congratulated the new Doctors for a successful Induction and expressed appreciation to the Parents/ Guardians, friends and all the guests who graced the occasion praying for God’s protection over them as they travel back to their various destinations.
Highlight of the event was the administration of the Physician Oath on the 17 (Seventeen) new Doctors.
