Miss Isaac Blessing, a graduate of sociology, Abia State University, Uturu has received a cash award from Dr Emmanuel Ugochukwu Nwakanma.
The award which is redeemed annually was instituted by Dr Emmanuel Ugochukwu Nwakanma for the best graduating student of the Department of Sociology, Abia State University. The winner this time around is Miss Blessing who received the N100, 000 through the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Maxwell Onyemachi Ogbulu.
While handing over the cash gift in his office to Miss Blessing in company of the University Management Team, the Vice-Chancellor expressed joy over the feat achieved by Blessing.
The VC said that Abia State University had continued to produce students who could compete favourably with their counterparts all over the world.
Miss Isaac Blessing is the best graduating student of Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.65, and also the second overall best student in the University.
This first class graduate is from Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
While receiving the award, Miss Isaac Blessing thanked the donor Dr Emmanuel Ugochukwu Nwakanma for the cash gift, and also expressed her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, the Management, and her lecturers for bringing out the best in her through their wealth of knowledge and dedicated teaching.
In line with the tradition of the University, Miss Blessing is expected to be engaged by the University as a Graduate Assistant upon completing her NYSC programme, if she so desires.
