VC FLAGS OFF 2022 INTERNAL BUDGET DEFENCE; CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR THE ADMINISTRATION

The Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, Wednesday, September 1, 2021, flagged off 2022 internal budget defense at the senate chamber of the University, with a charge to all Deans, Directors and Heads of Department to take the exercise seriously to be able to come up with feasible budget that will guide the activities of the University in these challenging periods. He stressed the importance of planning in every organization, which he says, “is the anchor on which success is built”, explaining that this has become even more necessary in the present situation in the country and called on all, to support the University navigate through the present difficult financial challenges, through proper budgeting, planning and prudent implementation of set goals of various faculties, departments, and directorates for the overall benefit of the University. He commended the University Bursar, Mr Chuks Nwaogwugwu and other members of staff of the Bursary Department, for exhibiting a high sense of professionalism in their presentation and discharge of their duties, and assured that Management on its part will not fail in its responsibilities and mandate of Teaching, Research and Community services. In his presentation, the University Bursar, Mr Chuks Vine Nwaogwugwu, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, for providing good and transparent leadership, adding that the internal budget defense is more than an annual ritual, but provides an opportunity for those involved to make inputs on how best the University can move forward, in the midst of dwindling financial inflow. The Bursar, presented the income and expenditure of the University, and revealed the huge indebtedness of students to the University over the years, and appealed to participants to help Management in its revenue drive, urging students to pay up their fees, in order to shore up the internal revenue of the University. The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the event by other Principal Officers of the University.
