Today, 1st June, 2021, Nigeria, Abia State and Abia State University will celebrate one of the finest and most decorated politicians, quintessential Administrator and exemplary Leader, His Excellency, Senator Adolphus N. Wabara, Ph.D as he turns 73.
Born on Tuesday, 1st June, 1948 at Ohambele, Ndoki, in Ukwa East LGA, Abia State, the young Adolphus Wabara had a humble beginning, with his life’s trajectory quite revealing and instructive, standing on the principles pf justice, equity and humanitarianism. His life has thus been an epitome of Excellence and Service.
According to a sage, two dates are most symbolic in the life of a person – the date you are born and the date you die.
His Excellency, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Ph.D, Distinguished Academic, passionate and humane Leader, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Abia State University, is a household name in the politics of Abia State and Nigeria.
As Executive Chairman, Ukwa East LGA, Abia State (1996 – 1998); Member, Federal House of Representatives (1992 – 1993); Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 – 2007); Senate President (2003 – 2005) and currently, National Secretary, Board of Trustees, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), among others, Senator Wabara would be said to have paid his dues in the Nigerian polity.
As Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, of the star-studded Governing Council, Abia State University, His Excellency, Senator Adolf Wabara has exhibited prudent and unparalleled commitment to the affairs of the University. His candour and Administrative prowess are veritable assets to the University, and these have attracted unprecedented goodwill from far and near.
In congratulating the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, His Excellency, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Ph.D on the commemoration of this auspicious occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, described him as a consummate politician, a pillar of support and an Iconic leader, who has brought his wealth of National and International experience to bear in his leadership of the Governing Council. He therefore, on behalf of Governing Authorities, Staff and Students of the University, wishes him Happy Birthday, more years of good health, greater accomplishments and continued service to the State, Nation and Humanity.

As we celebrate this genius, political icon, unapologetic crusader for Equity and Justice, bilingual scholar, diplomat, passionate and humane Leader, let’s be reminded of God’s promise in Psalms 91:16, “with long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation”.
