VC COMMENDS DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY FOR FABRICATING HAND SANITIZERS PRODUCTION MACHINES

The Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne, has commended the team of Academics, from the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Abia State University for their ingenuity in fabricating some local machines for the production of hand sanitizers and liquid soaps in line with the vision of the Governor, and visitor to the University, Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD to promote local productions in the State.
The Vice Chancellor, who stated this, when the team, presented the fabricating machines to him at the Senate building, congratulated them for applying their knowledge wisely in this period charging them to ensure they sustain the effort and produce in commercial quantity.
He explained that the machines will also be useful to the Students for practical purposes and contribute as well to the improvement of Health care delivery in the country, and pledged the support of management of the University to the development of the project.
Earlier, the Head of Department, Industrial Chemistry, Dr Innocent Nnorom, explained that the machines includes a big mixer, Dispenser  fabricated with proceeds from the sale of ABSU HAND sanitizers and thanked the Vice Chancellor for his continued support and encouragement.
It will recalled that at the early stage of the spread of the corona virus pandemic, the same team presented the ” ABSU hand sanitizers” which they produced and distributed to the public, including 1000 pieces donated to the Abia State Government.
Also in the team, was the Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof Mrs Jemima Ogwo among others.
