MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: ABSU RE-CONNECTED TO NATIONAL GRID

The Administration of the Vice-Chancellor, Abia State University, *Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne*, has achieved yet another significant and major breakthrough, with the historic successful re-connection of the Main Campus, Uturu, to the National grid after many years of protracted technical challenges.

It would be recalled that the Governing Council of the University had initiated the gigantic project of connecting the Main Campus, Uturu, to the National grid a couple of years ago, which later suffered intractable technical challenges and disconnection.

The University had therefore been running its activities solely on internally generated power, often up to 18hours daily, running into Millions of Naira.

With this development, the University will be saving enormous resources for other competing demands and Improved services.

Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor, *Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne*, has graciously approved the linkage of the Umuahia Location of the University to the Pre-paid Meter of the National grid.

Hitherto, supply of electricity to the Campus had been a huge challenge due to its erratic nature. With this development also, the Campus is currently having more regular supply of power for improved services.

Kudos to our History-making, Result-oriented, Excellence-driven, People-centric, Students-friendly Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne and Governing Authorities of the University for these uncommon achievements.

To God be the Glory.
