The success story of Abia State University, under the dynamic Vice-Chancellor, *Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne*, will be incomplete without paying tribute to the unique role of Abia State University Women Association (ABSUWA) , a gender-oriented Organization that embraces Female Senior Staff and Wives of Senior Male Staff of the University.

The Association which has the wife of the Vice-Chancellor, *Lady Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne*, as President, was founded in 1986, by wife of the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor M.J.C Echeruo, with the primary aim of creating and enhancing meaningful activities for the welfare of her members, Womanhood, the University Community and its environs.

On assumption of Office on 1st December, 2015, courtesy of being the wife of the Vice-Chancellor, *Lady Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne*, an Amazon of inestimable value, a woman of substance, with enviable pedigree and a Legal luminary brought her wealth of experience and expertise to bear as a model. She set out to cut a nitche for herself in the annals of ABSUWA and Abia State University to ensure greater achievements and attainment.

The tenure of this astute Administrator, Passionate and Visionary Leader has further highlighted the awesomeness of Womanhood, particularly, with her resourcefulness and unique managerial capabilities.

The Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne, described ABSUWA as a veritable pillar of support to the University Administration, with high Spiritual content. So far, the University Administration has been superbly supportive of ABSUWA activities and has effectively and significantly partnered with them, with donation of Bus, temporary Office Complex, financial support among others.

Respecting and acknowledging the worthy legacies of her predecessors, the Lady Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne led functional ABSUWA Leadership, has so far left indelible footprints for posterity with the following historic achievements:
