ABSU Pensioners Association Commends University Administration, Describes It As Pensioners-Fridendly

The Abia State University Pensioners Association has commended the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne  for prioritizing pensioners welfare since assumption of office as the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University through regular payment of pensions along with regular staff salaries, unprecedented in the University.
Speaking at a solidarity visit to the Vice-Chancellor by the enlarged Executive of the Association, the Chairman, Sir. L.O Udochukwu, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University for the regular payment of check off by all the retirees, issuance of identify cards to the retirees to avoid embarrassment, provision of office accommodation for the Association in the University, and for being the first sitting Vice-Chancellor to attend  their meeting.
The Association however solicited for consideration of the Vice-Chancellor for the payment of outstanding gratuities and pledged their continued partnership with the University Administration towards taking the University to higher heights.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne thanked the Association for the solidarity visit and appreciated God for his grace and benevolence upon their lives.
He pledged to continue to prioritize Pensioners welfare within the limits of available resources and promised to host one of their meetings very soon.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Governor and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D for his financial and moral support to the University and pledged that the University Administration, under his watch will endeavour to realize the dreams of the founding fathers of the University, as a unique citadel of learning and a reference point for excellence and service.
