When ABSUWA Prays, Season 5


It was a glorious sight to behold on Thursday, 30th January, 2020 when members of Abia State Women Association (ABSUWA), together with other women and female Students of the University had a victory match round the University Campus. Led by wife of the Vice-Chancellor and President of ABSUWA, Lady Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne and other men of God, the women who were gorgeously dressed in their ABSUWA uniform walked round and prayed.
This was part of the activities to herald the Annual prayer session organised by ABSUWA tagged, “When ABSUWA prays, Session 5” on the theme: “God of Faithfulness”.
In her testimony, the President, Lady Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, attributed the successes  recorded by the Association since her assumption of leadership in 2015 to the benevolence and Faithfulness of God. She thanked God for the prevailing peace in the University and called on leaders to always look up to God for strength and wisdom, while encouraging the led to obey the  Biblical injunction by praying for those in authority.
Lady Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, the solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, appreciated the wife of the Governor and Matron of ABSUWA for her unprecedented support and thanked the Vice-Chancellor, for his inspirational leadership and support. She prayed God to continue to bless ABSUWA members, University Community and help the Association in discharging their   responsibility of providing succour to the less privileged and indigent members of the University Community and environs.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, who led other members of Management and Senate to the prayer session described ABSUWA as a veritable partner with high Spiritual content and appreciated God for His immeasurable love and intervention in the affairs of the University. He thanked the Governor and Visitor to the University, the Governing council, Senate, Staff and Students of the University for their support.
He admonished members of the University Community to be guided by approved rules and regulations and promised to continue to ensure Justice and fairness to all. He thanked the Association for their support which greatly assisted in the unprecedented four years of uninterrupted academic activities and peace in the University.
Earlier in a homily, a Clergyman, Rev. Ofe-em Okoi charged Christians to always lead by example and be worthy Ambassadors of Jesus Christ in their workplace, and in the society. He always encouraged Christians to live sacrificial lives for the benefits of others as God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. He commended the Vice-Chancellor, ABSUWA and the University Community for giving God a pride of place in the University, while assuring that the God of Faithfulness will never fail.
High points of the prayer session were intercessory prayers, Special Choir renditions, Special ministrations.In attendance were Venerable Ugochukwu Ihechukwu, Rev. Professor Sunday Eze, Members of ABSU Management, Former VC, Professor Ogwo E. Ogwo and wife among others.ReplyForward
