VICE CHANCELLOR PLEDGES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MILITARY TO SUSTAIN SECURITY IN ABSU

The Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne has pledged improved partnership with the military to sustain the security network in the University.
The Vice Chancellor who disclosed this when the new commanding officer, 143 Battalion of the Nigerian army, Ovim, Isuikwuato, Lt. Col. A. U. Iliyasu, paid him a courtesy visit, pledged to continue to ensure conducive environment for teaching and research in the University in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
He described Abia State University as a foremost University in the country and commended the Vice Chancellor for setting up a strong security outfit in the University and promised to work with them. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and Management for their kind hospitality to the military.
Meanwhile, 34 students of the University who were found guilty of breaching their matriculation oath have been disciplined by the University with the following sanctions:
Expulsion 16
Suspension for 1 year 6
Indefinite suspension 12
The University management has further reiterated her determination to rid the Institution of all forms of cult related activities, examination malpractice and other vices as culprits will be appropriately sanctioned.
