NIGERIAN LEGION EXTOLS PROFESSOR IKONNE, ON HIS ACHIEVEMENTS AS VICE CHANCELLOR, ABSU.

The Nigerian legion, Abia state command, has extolled the Vice chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne for his unprecedented achievements since assumption in office as Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University.
Speaking during a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor by the legion, the Chairman, Navy Commander Ambrose Nnabugwu explained that the legion appreciates excellence and had watched on the sideline how Professor Ikonne has changed the narrative of the University to truly become a center of excellence among other Universities in the country and beyond.
He added that the Vice Chancellor has made Abia proud as well as the students who are displaying the spirit of excellence acquired from the University in national and international competitions as well as in other spheres of human endeavor, and thanked the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD for putting a round peg in a round hole in the appointment of Professor Ikonne as Vice Chancellor of the University.
In appreciation of his numerous achievements, the Legion presented to the Vice Chancellor a gift of an art work, and decorated him with the Armed forces remembrance emblem, while praying God to grant him more wisdom as he continues to pilot the affairs of the University.
Responding the Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E, Uche Ikonne, expressed joy for their visit, and thanked them for the presentation, explaining that he is humbled that a highly respected organization like the Nigerian legion, made up of retired men and women of integrity not given to frivolities, could find time to appreciate his modest contributions to the development of the University, and dedicated the gift to him to God and to the Governor and visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, who he appreciated, for his continued moral and financial support to the University.
He assured the legion of a rich and more enduring partnership with the University in the future, urging them to also avail the University of their rich experience each time they called call upon them.
In a vote of thanks, Engineer Lt Cdr Ifeanyi Nnamdi thanked the Vice Chancellor for the warm reception given to them, and prayed for more achievements for his administration in the year ahead.
Other members of the University management present were also decorated with the Armed forces remembrance emblem by the chairman of the legion
