The Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) in its determination to ensure compliance to the National Universities Commission (NUC) minimum standard as well as improve its academic programmes recently, hosted Eleven (11) NUC Accreditation teams for different courses of the University.

The programmes includes: Statisics, Linguistics, Microbiology, History, Estate Management, Marketing, Banking and Finance, Mathematics, Building, English, and Management.

Speaking while receiving each of the Teams on different dates, the Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, stressed the importance of Academic peer review from time to time, and commended NUC for insisting and maintaining minimum standard of programmes offered in Nigerian Universities.
He described the exercise as good for the system, assuring the Management’s commitment to implement reccommendations and suggestions from the teams to enhance the standards of the respective programmes.

Each of the Star studded Academic teams, speaking at different forum during their arrival and exits, through their leaders, expressed their appreciation for the warm reception accorded them, and particularly commended the Vice Chancellor for massive infrastructural development, the facilities on ground, as well as the cooperation and general conduct of the Staff and Students during the accreditation exercise.

The full compliment of the University Management, the Deans of the Faculties, with Heads of Departments under review, and Director, Academic Planning were all present, both at the arrival and exists of the teams at their respective dates.
