The Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne has restated his commitment to the Development of Optometry as a respectable profession in Nigeria.
Professor Ikonne stated this, when the new National Executive of the Nigeria optometry Association (NOA) paid him a Courtesy visit in his Office.
He said, he was gratified that graduates from ABSU, has held sway for three consecutive tenure of NOA Leadership, advising the new President and his Executive to be objective in their decision making and follow the regulations of the Association in their dealings with members.
Earlier, the Leader of the Association, and the National President of NOA, Dr Ozy Oknokhua, appreciated the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ikonne for his sacrifice to the growth of Optometry Profession in Nigeria, and further solicited his support and assistance in key areas, to move the Profession to a new Level.
He added, that NOA will also be looking for areas of collaboration where Alumni of the Profession could also give back to Abia State University that trained them.
In a vote of thanks, the National Vice President, Dr Oluchi Joy, thanked the Vice Chancellor for his advise to the Association towards building a united body of Optometrists in Nigeria, and assured him that the Executive will continue to work with him at all times and follow the advise given to them.
