VICE CHANCELLOR CALLS FOR PROPER DATA MANAGEMENT TO PREVENT CYBER CRIMES

The Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche ikonne has called on Internet users at all levels to be mindful of how and where they store important personal and official data to prevent access to information hackers.
The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor(DVC) Administration, Professor O.M Ogbulu, disclosed this, during the 2018 Abia Cyber Security Summit, with the theme ” NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN A SAVVY TECHNOLOGY WORLD: SECURING CYBER CITIZENS AND CYBER SPACE”, at the University Auditorium.
According to him, the Summit is coming at the right time, to provide information that will help fight all kinds of Cyber crimes prevalent in our Society, particularly among the Youth.
He explained that Data are now easily retrieved and manipulated by hackers against targeted victims, using innocent clues given out on personal or official information, and advised people to be careful how they handle such.
While thanking the Organizers for the well thought out program, Professor Ogbulu used the forum to inform participants on the achievements of the Vice Chancellor in the use of Information Technology for Admnistration particularly, the E- Registration, E- Senate, E- Transcript Processing, E- Admission, Checking of results, School fees Payment and other E- Transactions, introduced by the Present Administration.
The Topics for the Summit covered different areas of Cyber Security.
