DON LAMENTS LACK OF POTABLE WATER IN NIGERIA

Despite water, being the most abundant liquid, covering more than 70% of the earth surface, portable water is still in short supply in our rural and urban centres in Nigeria.
This was the submission of Professor George Nwabuko Chima, Professor of Hydology and water Resourses, during the 37th Inaugural Lecture of Abia State University, on the topic”WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE, BUT NOT ENOUGH”
Earlier, the Chairman on the occasion, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, while thanking the Guest Lecturer, expressed gladness, that many Professors are heeding the call to engage in research for quality academic harvest, which is the core mandate of the University.
The VC used the forum, to congratulate the Governor, and Visitor to the University, Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD, on his supreme court electoral victories, and award as Vanguard 2018 Governor of the Year.
In a vote of thanks, the DVC Administration, and Chairman, Ceremonial Committee, Professor O.M Ogbulu, thanked the Lecturer, and all that came for the occasion, appreciating the VC, for creating the robust academic enviroment that exists in the University.
Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of gifts by various groups, and the academic licence to Professor Chima, as a Distinguish Professor.
The event was graced by the Principal officers, Distinguish Professors and other Academics, Traditional rulers, Dignitaries from all walk of life and others.
