Ogbonna Onuoha, Professor of Linguistics & Igbo, has been appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administartion) of Abia State University, Uturu.This followed his election by Senate and subsequent ratification by the Governing council of the University. The appointment became effective from December 16, 2021 and for an initial tenure of two years. He was educated at the Umezeukwu/Umuogu Community School, Grammar School, Nbawsi and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He is a research award-winning academic and has been lecturer/researcher at Abia State University since 1987. Professor Onuoha is also a celebrated academic labour leader, having served as the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Abia State University Branch (ASUU-ABSU) for ten years as well as the ASUU Zonal Coordinator for South-East Universities in Nigeria, for three years, overseeing labour academic staff welfare.
He has served the University in several academic and administrative capacities, including, Director, Center for Quality Assurance & Ethics, Director, Institute for Distance Education, and Director, Division of General Studies. Through his academic and research exposure, Professor Onuoha has been honoured as Fellow, Institute of Policy Management Development, Executive Editors’ Accountability & Integrity Award, Ambassador of Peace, Certified Management Consultant, Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants, to mention a few.
Professor Ogbonna Onuoha is a ranking member of the Governing Council of Abia State University, as well as the University Public Orator.
