The history books are open for the entry of names of performers who are the shakers and movers of time. This rule falls on all kinds of men who have stepped on this earth. It equally takes a spiritual hue Matthew, 5:16 proclaims: “let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven”.
Since assumption of office as the Seventh Substantive President of Abia State University Women Association (ABSUWA), Barr. Lady Uzoamaka Uche-Ikonne has not heeding her determination to ensure total development and transformation of the association, particularly as it concerns rendering humanitarian services to the less privileged as well as support to the university administration.
Under her watch, ABSUWA has continue to enhancing the congenial profile of the University through the pursuit and execution of various pious and charity activities that has sown seeds of love amongst Staff and Students as well as the university community.
Just yesterday, a young lady approach me. In her words “Presido, I want you to do me a favour. Please help me thank Our VC’s wife for her benevolence and magnanimity toward me and my course mate”. The chat became more interesting when she took me down memory lane on how Lady Ikonne changed their life positively. Then a somewhat joyful silence fell on me as hurriedly whispered, keep praying for her.
Indeed, there are numerous key tactical actions, worthy of mention that have helped to shape and form the new narrative of the association.
Under her watch as President, ABSUWA has:
*Secured as well as furnished her new office complex known as “NNENANU Hub”. This secretariat which houses a rehabilitation center have been a safe haven for young females of all climes. It has continued to reach out and interact with the vulnerable on social, religious, physical, emotional, physiological issues. It has also enable the association to assist young ladies overcome the various challenges of this age, and grow into dutiful and responsible adults contributing towards a peaceful and progressive society.
