(1998) from Abia State University, M.Sc Industrial Microbiology
(2005) Michael Okpara University Umudike, PhD Environmental
Microbiology (2008) Abia State University Uturu. He also attended
Advanced International Training Programme on Air Pollution
Management in Norrkoping, Sweden.

He started his career as a Graduate Assistant in Microbiology at Abia State University and currently serves as a Professor of Microbiology and doubles as Director, Institute for Computer Studies. He was part of a team
that pioneered the take-off of Federal University, Wukari Taraba
State where he served as Pioneer Head, Department of Microbiology
for four Consecutive sessions and produced the first set of
Microbiology Graduates, before then he assisted with the take-off
of RHEMA University Aba.

He has served in many university committees. He is widely published in International and local journals. He has served as external examiner for Postgraduate and undergraduates programs of some Nigerian Universities. He has also been a member of National Universities Commission panels for
accreditation of undergraduate programmes in Federal, State and
Private Universities in Nigeria.
He is a very active member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology
and has served as the society’s Business Manager, Financial
Secretary, and Internal Auditor and current asly as Bacteriology
Representative. He is also a member of American Society for
Microbiology (ASM), International Society for Microbial Ecology
(ISME), Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, (BSN), and Nigerian
Society for Microbial Ecology amongst others.

He has attended over 35 workshops and conferences nationally and internationally as participant or resource person. He is a reviewer for many journals including Nigerian Journal of Microbiology and African Journal of
Biotechnology among others.
Osita currently focuses his research on indigenous food fermentations, wine production from local fruits and bio
deterioration of urban ecosystems.
