On Friday December 15,2017, all road leads to Abia State University pavilion for the Grand Civic reception in Honour of a distinguished and accomplished academic, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, by the OSO NSU (A Socio-Cultural Association of Abia State University Staff of Ngwa Origin).

In the history of Ngwa Land, we have produced erudite Scholars, Intellectuals, Technocrats, Administrators, Academicians, Captains of industries, Industrialists, Political heavy weights, Great media professionals e.t.c, but we’ve never had this privilege nor this opportunity of producing a Vice-Chancellor of any university in the whole world.

Therefore, on the above stated date, the entire Ngwa Clan will gather to celebrate their finest brand, who is the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University and the first Vice-Chancellor of the NGWA-Extraction.

As a distinguished academic, His (Prof. Ikonne) administration have been very eventful as several landmark achievements are being recorded in all spheres of the University.
He is taking the security, welfare of staff and students very seriously; He is vigorously pursuing excellence in teaching and research; Infrastructural development is receiving the necessary attention; Excellent town and gown relationship is being promoted; Internally generated revenue is being visibly enhanced; Fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability are getting necessary flip.

Under his watch as vice-chancellor, staff training and retraining continue to attract the administration’s utmost attention while regular payment of staff salaries and promotions has continued to be deservedly earned as at when due.

Indeed, we believe that gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. We also believe that gratitude changes everything. We believe that feeling grateful and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. The Igbos will say “E Kele Dike na nke omere, ya e me ozo” We are indeed grateful to God Almighty for making this possible.

As OSO-NSU-ABSU roll out its drums to celebrate a son, brother and father who believes success is not measured by the level of your material accomplishment, rather by the number of people that smile when they hear your name, we invite members of the academia, friends and all lovers of success, alumnae and alumni of Abia State University to this epoch making event as it promises to be memorable.
