The Vice-Chancellor Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu has received the championship trophy from the winner of the 2022 commonwealth intertertiary debating championship held recently. While receiving the trophy from the overall winner of the championship Mr Chineke Cajetan Goodluck, who represented Abia State University commended him for making the University proud especially now the education system is going through turbulent times. He assured him of the support of the University as he prepares for the final round of the competition coming up in Rwanda. Earlier the ABSU champion Chineke Cajetan Goodluck who studied English Education through the affiliate of the University, Peaceland College Enugu explained that the competition was a virtual debate involving over 250 tertiary institutions spread across the commonwealth countries.According to him, out that number 10(ten) schools were selected and three (3) emerged as finalists to represent Nigeria in Rwanda. He further stated that out of the three (3) Universities which includes Abia State University, kwara State University and Ebonyi State University, he emerged the overall best to be the Chief Speaker in addition to winning so many other awards in the competition. It will be remembered that Abia State University students have always been coming tops in similar competitions other years which underscores the spirit of excellence the University is noted for. Those who witnessed the trophy presentation includes Professor Mrs R.N.O Ogbonna from the Faculty of Education, Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Dr N. O Dibia, and the Peaceland liaison officer in ABSU, Dr Udensi Ukaku.
