“INTRODUCE MANAGEMENT AS A COMPULSORY GST COURSE

A Professor of Management Abia State University Uturu, F. Ezionye Eboh has called for the inclusion of “Introduction to Management” as a compulsory GST Course in all Universities across the Country to prepare Students for the task of leadership in both the Public and Private sectors of the economy.Professor Eboh who made the call while delivering the 61st Inaugural Lecture of the University on the topic, “Management: Everything, Everywhere”, also lamented the erosion of societal values with its attendant consequences on the youths and called for concerted efforts by both Government and Institutions to address this ugly trend in order to make the corporate Managers of tomorrow better and approach the issues of Management with passion and integrity for a better society. The consummate academic, who was also the former Rector of Abia State Polytechnic Aba, stated further that “Management is the be all and the end of it all” and every person, as little managers in their own enclave, must strive to manage the limited recourses available to achieve set goals and targets.Earlier in his remark the Vice-Chancellor and the Chairman on the occasion Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu commended Professor Eboh for the choice of topic which he described as very appropriate and timely, adding that the problem of the country is not that of lack of resources but rather the lack of Management at all levels.He used the forum to thank the Abia State Governor and Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD for his support to the University especially in the just concluded 27th and 28th convocation ceremony of the University which he graciously attended with members of his executive council, and called on other academic to sustain the tempo of the monthly inaugural lecture of the University.In a vote of thanks, the Dean, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Dr Ndukwe Dibia congratulated the Inaugural Lecturer for an excellent presentation of the lecture and the Vice-Chancellor for creating the enabling environment for the robust academic activities in the University.High point of the event was the presentation of gift to the Inaugural Lecturer by a former Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Ogwo E. Ogwo on behalf the Vice- Chancellor Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, as well as the admittance of Professor F. Ezionye Eboh into the college of Distinguished Professors of the University
