The need to restore the glory of University education and produce more sound graduates, worthy in character and learning, may have prompted the Vice Chancellor, Abia State University (ABSU), Distinguished Professor O. M Ogbulu’s resolve, to pursue vigorously, the building of more hostels in the University, as part of the vision of his administration.
Professor Ogbulu, while welcoming the executive of ABSU Alumni, Portharcourt Chapter, during a courtesy visit, restated this resolve, explaining that this would be achieved through Public Private Partnership (PPP), and called on interested Corporate bodies, Alumni Associations and individuals, to partner the University in this regard.
He assured Portharcourt Alumni, of the full support of his administration to revive the Hostel project they earlier initiated in one of the past administrations, while urging them to explore other opportunities in the Institution for investment, that will improve the internally generated revenue(IGR) of the University.
Speaking earlier, the Chapter President, Vincent Okafor, in his address, congratulated the Vice Chancellor, on his appointment which he described as ” A clear case of a square peg in a square hole” having paid his dues over the years, moving through the ranks, in the University.
According to him, the visit is to show solidarity with the administration and synergize on areas of mutual interest, as well as present some requests for consideration to the Vice Chancellor.
In a vote of thanks, Barrister S. E C Nwosu, the former Chapter President, expressed joy at the elevation of the Vice Chancellor, and the Registrar, who is an Alumnus of the University, and urged the Vice Chancellor, to pursue his vision with passion, in order to make a huge difference during his tenure.
