HONORABLE CHANCELLOR, ABSU, PROFESSOR JAMES AYATSE CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR OKEZIE IKPEAZU PH.D ON RE –ELECTION, SOLICITS MORE SUPPORT FOR ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Honorable Chancellor of Abia State University and Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Begha U. Tiv, Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, has congratulated the Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D on his well –deserved re-election as Governor of Abia state, to complete his legacy projects and pledged the support of the Tiv Nation, worldwide and people of Benue State to his people –oriented administration.
The Honorable Chancellor who disclosed this when the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Senator Adolf Wabara, the Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne and Management of Abia State University visited him at his Palace in Gboko, Benue State, described the visit as historic. He appreciated the Governor and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D for appointing him as Chancellor of a great Institution like Abia State University and promised to justify the appointment.
He further commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, and the University Senate for their efforts at implementing his desire for the annual awards of the Best Behaved Student of the University and Best Graduating Student in Bio-Chemistry, which he instituted in perpetuity, stating that University degrees are awarded based on being found worthy in character and in learning, but not much recognition has been placed on character.
He noted that Education is the bedrock of any nation and described the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu as an academic, who is using his good office to strengthen Abia State University and Education in the State.
Earlier in his speech, the Pro Chancellor, and Chairman Governing Council, Senator Adolf Wabara disclosed that the delegation came to visit him as the father of the University, pointing out, that his appointment is not political, but merited, being an eminently qualified Professor of International repute. He pledged the cooperation and support of the University Governing Council and prayed that his tenure as Honorable Chancellor will take the University to the next level of development.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne disclosed that Abia State University is very glad to be associated with Professor James Ayatse, Tor Tiv, as the Honorable Chancellor of the University, in view of his administrative prowess and academic mentor-ship of distinguished academics, including two Governors in Nigeria.
He assured him of the cooperation of Management, Senate and Students of the University, and thanked him for the impact of his last visit to the University during the 26th Convocation Ceremony, where he instituted Awards in perpetuity, including the best behaved student of the University, which is a novelty. 
The Vice Chancellor used the opportunity of the visit to invite the Honorable Chancellor to the maiden special ABSU Alumni Convocation scheduled for 30th November, and presented him with a copy of the revised law of the University.
In a vote of thanks, a member of the University Governing Council, Senator Emma Nwaka, thanked the Honorable Chancellor, and his cabinet for the wonderful reception and pledged the continued partnership between Abia State University, the Tiv nation and Benue State for the greater development of the nation. 
Highlights of the visit, which was attended by members of Management of Abia State University, were the decoration of the Pro Chancellor, Senator Adolf Wabara, and the Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne with the Tiv Traditional attire, exchange of gifts and group photographs.
