The Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, Tuesday, Sepember 18, declared open, the 2019 internal Bugdet defence of the Abia State University, with a charge to participants for improved Service delivery to Students in the new Academic year.
While welcoming participants to the event, he emphasised the need for the University to continue to maintain an uninterrupted Academic calender, through quality service delivery and prudent management of available resources.
He explained that the issue of funding for Universities has become a National problem, which is not peculiar to ABSU, hence the need to improve the Internally Generated Revenue, through prompt fees payment by Students, and deliberate efforts of Faculties to attract Students to themselves.
Earlier in a presentation, the University Bursar, Chuks Nwaogwugwu, pointed out that the essence of the exercise is to provide a proper understanding of the finances of the Institution to help in planning and projection, and this he stated, requires inputs from the various departments.
He further appealed to them to assist the University by encouraging Students to pay their fees on time, as well as consider the finances of the University, in making their budget presenations.
The meeting was attended by the Princitpal Officers, Dean of Faculties, Head of Departments, Directors, and others, and later, the first group commenced their defence.
