Another major breakthrough is underway for the Adminisration of Professor E. Uche Ikonne, with the planned establishment of a Cashew nut Shell Liquid processing plant in Abia State University in Partnership with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council of Nigeria (RMRDC).
Speaking during a Courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, the Deputy Director, Planning Department, RMRDC, Mr S.L Wali, who led other team members, explained that the choice of ABSU is divine, with its abundant natural resources, pointing out that when esablished, the plant will engage both Staff and Students in the product development.
He promised that the machines will arrive middle of October, expecting the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU), with the University to be concluded in two weeks time.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, welcomed the Team, on behalf of the Management, and assured them of the commitment and cooperation of the University to realize the project in record time.
According to the Vice Chancellor, ABSU is the right choice for the project, because of its abundant natural and human capital, that will be neccessary to effectively drive the project, in addition to the conducive entrepreneural enviroment created by the Governor, and Visitor to the University, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ph.D, in the State.
In a vote of thanks, the Abia State Coordinator of RMRDC, Anosike Kingsley, appreciated the Vice Chancellor for his warm welcome to the team, and lauded him for the developmental stride which he has brought to bear in the University since he assumed office.
Present at the meeting were the Management team of the University, the Head of Department, Bio Chemistry, and the ICS Director.Professor Osita Ugbogu.
