The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uche Ikonne has been conferred with an award by the Abia State Medical Association, in recognition of his invaluable support to the Association.
Professor Ikonne who received the award, during a courtesy visit to him by the Executives of the ABSU Medical Association, charged the students to distinguished themselves in their areas of study beyond the achievements of their predecessors.
He admonished them to make use of the resources in the internet for research purposes, while promising to assist in anyway they can because the University Management is favorably disposed to assist at all times, especially when they avail themselves the channels of communication provided by the school.
Earlier, the President of the Abia State University Medical Association, Bekee Otuka Uzochukwu said they came to thank the Vice-Chancellor for the support giving the Association, and for creating the enabling environment for a free and fair election of the Association.
He further thanked the Vice-Chancellor for making the school the only State University with full accreditation for the Medical school, the provision of power supply to the school, the provision of the best Pathology Laboratory to the school and other facilities.
He pointed out that ABSU is leading a standing committee on Medical research in the Country, has an E-Library with core 1.7 processor for research, and the Vice-Chancellor has made it possible for them to attend many inter school conferences.
In a vote of thanks, Anulaobi Caleb Chukwuemeka, expressed their gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the privilege to meet with him, and promised they will continue to abide with the rules and regulations of the University.
The Principal Officers were present at the meeting.
