It was a moment of joy and reunion on Saturday, Dec. 16th, 2017, as the Old Boys Association of Ngwa High School Aba, gathered at the school premises for her 2017 homecoming and National Convention, to honour one of their own, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, Vice-Chancellor Abia State University.
Professor Ikonne, who was the special Guest of honour for the event, accompanied by his wife, Barrister Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne and son, Dr. Chikezie Ikonne, while receiving the star award, recalled his days as a student of Ngwa High School and how God has elevated him to his current position as the Vice-Chancellor of ABSU, by his special grace and mercies.
While thanking his fellow old boys for the honour, he promised to make his own modest contribution to uphold the good image and status of the school, as one of the best secondary schools within and outside the state.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ikonne had joined his colleagues to unveil the new school gate built by the old boys, and a facility tour of other projects equally executed by them.
The National President of Ngwa High School Old Boys Association (NHSOBA) Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN), in his address thanked God, that inspite of so many challenges; they were all alive to see another home coming of members of NHSOBA, and appreciated Professor Ikonne, and others for making the completion of the rehabilitation of their Dinning Hall possible.
Notable old boys of Ngwa High School within and outside the country including the first senior prefect attended the colorful event.
