It was a gathering of who is who at Abia State University Cafeteria as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne kicked off the silver Jubilee (25th) convocation ceremony with a Non-Denominational Thanksgiving service.
Former Vice-Chancellor’s, Elected & Appointed political office holders, Clergymen, Traditional Rulers, Lovers of Success, Staff and Students of the institution were amongst the guest at the occasion.

Professor Ikonne at the occasion which he attended accompanied by his wife Barr. Lady Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, thanked God for leading the university thus far and gave Kudos to the Governor/ Visitor to the University Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD, His Management team and the University community at large for their unalloyed love and support.
Down memory lane, Abia State University, fondly called Gods Own University is sincerely a product of Gods grace and of a truth, Ebenezer, thus far the Lord has led us”. Professor Ikonne admonished members of staff and students to always be of good behaviour as Godliness with contentment is grate gain.
He further advised those who may decide to treacherously scuttle this God giving processes of change in Abia State University for pecuniary selfish interest to desist from such as consequence attached will not be palatable.

Earlier in his sermon that centered on “CELEBRATING GODS FAITHFULNESS”, The guest ministers, His Grace Most Rev. Jonh Ene Koko Bassey (ArchBishop of Okigwe Anglican Communion) admonished the assembly on the imperative of thanksgiving. He further described Professor Ikonne as God’s special gift to Abia state University and prayed God’s continual grace to fearlessly drive this task ahead.

The occasion featured Praise and Worship, Special renditions by ABSUWA, fellowship choirs and Special prayers for Abia State University, Professor Ikonne, Governor Ikpeazu,Abia State Government, amongst others.
